Earthquake frequency

In Nepal, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred on April 25, 2015. There are 8,790 victims due to this earthquake, about 510,000 homes in total destruction and about 280,000 houses in half of the house. Furthermore, many historic buildings collapsed. We frequently hear opinions that people who live in Nepal are safe since the next big earthquake will not come.

We made the animation the earthquake beyond magnitude (M)5 which occurred in the past 100 years based on the data of USGS (U.S. Geological Survey ) in the country. The color of the bar represents the magnitude (M) indicating the magnitude of the earthquake. M5 or more is blue, M6 or more is orange, M7 or more is red. Buildings in Nepal are quite vulnerable to earthquake resistance, so buildings near the epicenter are heavily damaged.
